Bandura Blog

2. In a few sentences, list any and all specificmedia or cultural items that your parents or grandparents think are badinfluences on you, and explain the impact that these items have had on you ifany (i.e. specific types of music, video games, TV, movies, celebrities, specific sites on the internet, etc.)
My grandparents think that video games are a bad influence on my brother and I because they think that they introduce unnecessary insights to violence in our life. They also think that video games turn our brains to mush and that they are not educational. Also, my parents think that some TV shows are bad influences on us because they are inappropriate and things that we shouldn’t be watching or exposed to.

3. Reflect on the people you have imitated over the course of yourlife: family members, friends, or people in the media. Who have your “models” been? Identify and describe specific ideas, attitudes, fashions, habits, ways of thinking, behaving, and speaking that youhave picked up through observational learning. BE SPECIFIC! Writea paragraph with plenty of examples from your own life.
I imitated my brother a lot as a child. Growing up being the youngest person in my family, my brother was the closest in age to me, so I looked up to him. Even though he is four years older than me, we’ve always been very close and had a great relationship. I liked to dress like him and wear baseball hats even though my mom wanted me to wear a cute bow or headband. My brother also used to lisp when he was younger and sometimes when I was very young my parents told me that I lisped after listening to him speak. While I was watching home videos, there was a scene at my cousin’s birthday party where we were all dancing to music. I was 3 and my brother was 7. In the video you see me looking at my brother dancing and trying to imitate the same movements as him.

Different Learning Types

From taking these online tests, I learned that I am an auditory/verbal learner. I learn better when I can have information presented auditory in an oral language formant. I learn best when interacting with others in a listening/speaking exchange. I also discovered from my test results that body movement is a big part of my learning process. It gave me ideas that I could study while walking and being active. It is true that when I have to study for a test I perform much better when I am in a group.

If I Won the Lottery...

If I was lucky enough to win 319 million dollars, my life would be A LOT different. At first, I probably wouldn't be motivated to do anything except shop and buy nice things for myself. However, I would definitely give a nice chunk of money to each member in my immediate family. I would give each member of my immediate family 10 million dollars, so I would know that they could enjoy the same life style as me and be set for life. I also would give 6 million dollars each to my aunt, my two uncles, all of my grandparents, and my three cousins. After this, I would be motivated to help improve animal shelters for abused and abandoned animals. I would donate money to shelters, and I would love to even start my own businesses. I would be open my own pet store, because I love animals very much. I would also open my own tennis clinic but tennis is a big part of my life. With all of this money, I would build myself a personal tennis court and get an instructor because I would love to keep playing tennis for the rest of my life. I would be motivated to try to be good enough to enter competitions and to work towards a goal. I would live my life differently because I would know that other family members would be satisfied and set for life and I would know that I was too.
